What is the use of joining a particular webring group? - 05/23/2007
When I join a certain genre of webring, it's because I want the nav bar on my site to be read by those interested in that genre. Does that make sense? I click the Next and Previous links just fine, but, too often that Nav Ring isn't on the next site so I can't get back to mine.

Why can't the next and previous links automatically connect to that particular ring? I thought that was the purpose and I've mentioned it before. I think the owners were blamed for not having the code on the right page, but if they don't, why are they still in the ring? I wonder why they join a particular ring if they aren't going to show it. It seems any code at all will work, as long as its WebRings. It's aggravating and annoying, and its always been this way. Can nothing be done?

I think if a nav bar is not on the 'next' page, the page should be skipped over to the next valid site.

Every now and again this bears repeating.
The next and previous take you to the next or previous ACTIVE SITE. If the site does not have valid code it is up to the manager to suspend the site. members are encouraged to contact the manager to point out the site with invalid code. If you get no response (within a reasonable amount of time of course) then we encourage you to report the site AND the manager to support.

The site should not be active "just because it has any webring code" it MUST be valid for the ring in question.

Thank you for explaining this, it helps. Yes, it bears repeating every so often. I will notify the manager of the broken link because it affects everyone on the ring.
