Nudge-gram Resets
- 08/07/2004
I am posting this in response to a kind but firm request from a reader that I isolate this information and post it separately.
I am posting it to the Suggestion Forum, the General Forum, the Manager's Forum and even, this time, to the Tech/Help forum.
NOTE: Posting to the Tech/Help forum may be incorrect. I'm not sure. This is not a request for help, but rather a request for a system change. If the Tech/Help posting is inappropriate, please just ignore.
Earlier, at http://l.webring.com/forum?forum=manager;did=2440#here I wrote
... when the nudge-gram is sent the system destroys some of the settings. In particular, it reverts the Application Message to the system default. This email message must be reset.... this nudge-gram also resets the application timeout.
This post is to isolate and clarify this point and suggest one of two changes.
If you have failed to "manage" your webring for an extended period of time, the system sends emails to remind you. I call these "nudge-grams" because they gently nudge you to get logged on/in and fix it.
One of the nudge-grams is triggered at 45 days. This particular nudge-gram appears to:
a) reset the application time-out to 30 days
b) reset the application email to the system default
NOTE: It may be that this is an intentional design.
My suggestion:
1) change it so it doesn't do that or
2) announce the "reset" in the nudge-gram
